Arta Finance, a leading fintech firm, has announced the appointment of Tomas Arlia as its new Chief Investment Officer and Head of Alternative Investments. Arlia, a former CIO of GE Asset Management, brings over 25 years of experience to his new role. His expertise will help further enhance the company’s offerings in alternative assets, including private equity, private credit, venture capital, hedge funds, and real estate.
Prior to joining Arta Finance, Arlia served as the CIO and Portfolio Manager at GE Asset Management, where he oversaw a $3 billion global hedge fund and a $1 billion portfolio in private equity fund investments. During his tenure, Arlia spearheaded GE’s expansion into direct private equity investments in Latin America. Drawing on his vast experience, he went on to establish his own alternative investments firm, DoubleBlue, which focused on direct investing in private equity and private credit, as well as hedge fund investing in global public equities and fixed income.
Caesar Sengupta, co-founder and CEO of Arta Finance, expressed his excitement about Arlia joining the team, stating, “As we continue to see increased interest in alternative investments on our platform, we are thrilled to have Tomas leading our private markets and alternative investments division at Arta. His extensive expertise in this field, coupled with his leadership skills and global knowledge, make him the perfect fit to develop our private markets offerings. Arta’s mission is to provide access to investment opportunities that were previously only available to the ultra-wealthy, and Tomas is the ideal leader to bring this mission to life.”
In his new role, Arlia’s focus will be on addressing three major challenges faced by retail investors: access, complexity, and liquidity. He plans to offer institutional-quality investment options to Arta’s members, making them accessible through structures that allow for lower investment sizes. Additionally, Arlia will oversee go-to-market strategy, new product development, and lead asset allocation and portfolio construction for customers.
Arlia expressed his enthusiasm about the opportunity to make a difference in the financial industry, stating, “In a time where traditional pillars of financial security, such as corporate pension plans and family offices, are either disappearing or out of reach for most individuals, the concept of a digital family office is more relevant than ever. As the Head of Alternatives, I am excited to play a role in driving financial inclusivity. With Arta’s exceptional technical and user experience capabilities, I believe we have all the necessary components to succeed in our mission.”
Arta Finance, founded in 2021, has secured over $90 million in financing and boasts a founding team of former Google executives. The platform aims to help individuals diversify and expand their investment options by providing access to wealth-building tools and financial products that were previously limited to the ultra-wealthy and institutional investors.
