Klarna, the AI-powered global payments network, has unveiled a range of new products and services with the aim of promoting circularity and encouraging smart shopping. The company, which boasts 150 million consumers and 27 million app users worldwide, is expanding beyond payments to become a comprehensive platform for consumers, focusing on environmental impact.
Salah Said, Head of Sustainability at Klarna, stated that the company is dedicated to transforming shopping into a more sustainable and circular experience. Through the launch of various new products, such as a conscious shopping dashboard, sustainability filters in the search and compare tool, and an enhanced CO2e tracker with data on over 122 million products, Klarna aims to provide consumers with the tools to make informed, environmentally responsible choices.
Consumer demand for sustainable and ethical practices is on the rise, with 78% of consumers stating that a sustainable lifestyle is important to them. However, many find it difficult to begin their sustainable shopping journey due to a lack of information and resources. Nearly 80% of consumers struggle to identify environmentally-friendly companies that align with their values and interests.
To address this issue, Klarna has introduced a new conscious shopping dashboard. It currently available online in the US, with plans to launch in the Klarna App and other markets in the near future. This dashboard serves as a centralized resource, offering consumers access to a wide range of sustainability-oriented products, features, and services provided by Klarna. From circular brands that focus on waste reduction and product maximization to Klarna’s CO2e footprint tracker, consumers can discover all of Klarna’s sustainability offerings in one place.
In addition to acting as a gateway to Klarna’s conscious shopping offerings, the dashboard also provides editorial and educational content to enhance consumers’ understanding of sustainable practices. With these updates, Klarna aims to empower consumers to make choices that align with their values and consider sustainability when shopping.
