Marqeta Welcomes Heather Gantt-Evans as CISO

Marqeta, the global card issuing platform, has appointed Heather Gantt-Evans as its new chief information security officer. With her extensive experience in security and risk management at companies like SailPoint, The Home Depot, and Ernst & Young, Gantt-Evans is perfectly suited for this role. She will be responsible for overseeing Marqeta’s global corporate and product security strategies.

According to Randy Kern, Marqeta’s chief technology officer, Gantt-Evans is a security strategist with a proven track record in building effective cybersecurity programs for start-ups, small businesses, and Fortune 100 companies. As Marqeta expands its embedded finance capabilities into new markets, Gantt-Evans will develop and implement transformative strategies to ensure the continued protection of the company’s customers, employees, partners, and stakeholders.

Gantt-Evans most recently served as the chief information security officer at SailPoint, where she designed the company’s cybersecurity strategy and implemented measures to mitigate business and product risk. Prior to that, she held key roles in security operations and cyber resilience at The Home Depot and worked as a consultant for Ernst & Young, advising Fortune 100 companies.

In addition to her impressive professional background, Gantt-Evans is also a U.S. Army Reserves veteran. During her time in the military, she served as an all-source threat intelligence analyst, supporting the Air Force Cyber Command and focusing on cyber threat intelligence and operations. She currently serves on multiple advisory boards and is the cybersecurity committee chairperson for Envision Radiology. Gantt-Evans has also been recognized as a Top Cybersecurity Leader by Security Magazine.

Marqeta, which is certified in over 40 countries worldwide, recently expanded its operations to Brazil. As the company continues its global expansion, Gantt-Evans will play a crucial role in securing business operations and payment data, including sensitive personally identifiable information (PII), for Marqeta, its customers, and employees.

This appointment highlights Marqeta’s commitment to prioritizing cybersecurity and ensuring the highest level of protection for its stakeholders. With Gantt-Evans at the helm, the company is well-equipped to navigate the evolving landscape of cybersecurity threats and safeguard its platform against potential risks.
